DOLPHIN / MAHI / DORADO

Mahi, or dolphin as we call them on the Florida panhandle (despite the confusion between the gamefish and flipper) are a Gail Force favorite. These noble gamefish are notorious for inhabiting weedlines and congregating, often in mass numbers around floating debris. Dolphin inhabit our offshore waters from late April - October with Late May, June and July historically being the best months for reliable action and big fish. These fish are very aggressive and most commonly caught by traditional tolling methods. The preferred method of fishing for Dolphins on the Gail Force is to locate weedlines / debris that 'looks fishy' and to spot the fish from high atop the boat. Once located the fish are cast to with spinning tackle and the 'reel fun' begins. These beautiful fish with their ever changing myriad of fluorescent colors are brutal fighters and more often than not jump repeatedly when hooked and throughout the fight. And as table fare they rate A#1.
